Jordan invests in Jenoptik technology to make its roads safer
Jenoptik Smart Mobility Solutions, together with TrafficTech Middle East, signs a low single-digit million‑euro contract with the Greater Amman Municipality (Jordan) to roll out advanced traffic safety systems across the city and its highways.
Amman, the capital of Jordan, is set to become a smarter, safer city. Under the agreement, 41 TraffiStar SR591 red‑light and speed‑enforcement cameras will be installed. In addition, nine VECTOR SR P2P (point-to-point) section‑control devices will be placed on key highway stretches to monitor average speeds. All the incidents collected by these field devices will be fed into Jenoptik’s new back‑office platform, FlowTris, giving the municipality a single, real‑time view of traffic violations.
“We are thrilled to work with TrafficTech Middle East and the Greater Amman Municipality on a project that directly supports Amman’s Vision Zero ambition. We look forward to seeing the positive impact on road safety and the city’s smart‑city journey,” said Tobias Deubel, Head of Jenoptik Smart Mobility Solutions.
Samer Amarin from TrafficTech Middle East, the regional partner that will integrate and maintain the systems, added: “This contract demonstrates our commitment to bringing world‑class traffic‑management technology to the Jordan. We are happy to support the Greater Amman Municipality in its goal to increase traffic safety.”
The deployment is more than a collection of cameras and sensors. It is a cornerstone of Amman’s Vision Zero goal – to eliminate traffic‑related deaths and serious injuries. By catching red‑light runners and speeding drivers, the system will generate reliable evidence for enforcement.
The contract underscores Jenoptik’s commitment in supporting governments and municipalities all over the globe to get closer to Vision Zero with its solutions. It also underscores TrafficTech’s long standing, trusted partnership in Jordan, emphasizing the continued success of its collaborative projects with Jenoptik Smart Mobility Solutions throughout the country. With half of the TraffiStar units on highways and the other half in the city, and the P2P average speed control devices dedicated to highway corridors, the solution is tailored to Greater Amman Municipality’s mixed traffic environment.
