Jenoptik was honored with “The Pioneer Award” for its economic success and social commitment at the “MY WAY Conference” in Berlin, Germany.

Gabor Steingart, publisher and editor-in-chief of the online magazine “The Pioneer”, presented the award to Jenoptik President & CEO Dr. Stefan Traeger, thereby honoring Jenoptik as a company that stands out for its business model, management style, orientation, economic success and, last but not least, social commitment.

“The award is a special honor for us as a company, but above all for all our employees worldwide, especially in Thuringia, who supported our #StayOpen campaign with great commitment and courage,” said Dr. Stefan Traeger during the award ceremony. “Many thanks to everyone who voted for us and to the jury, which has thus honored not only our economic success but also our commitment to #StayOpen and to a regional initiative promoting more tolerance and open-mindedness in Thuringia.”

Jenoptik successfully prevailed against the other nominees The Cloud One Hotels, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Flix SE and entrepreneur Philipp Westermeyer. The jury explained its decision in favor of the Jena-based photonics company as follows (translation from German):

  • “Since its foundation in the Thuringian town of Jena after the German reunification, JENOPTIK AG has stood for entrepreneurial courage and pioneering spirit. It is part of a new generation of high-tech companies that are successful both regionally and internationally. Jenoptik has played a decisive role in establishing eastern Germany as a modern business location and creating sustainable growth opportunities.”
  • “In addition to its technological strength, JENOPTIK AG is also committed to social causes: With initiatives such as 'Bleib offen' (Stay open), the company promotes open-mindedness, diversity and tolerance, thus contributing to positive development in the region and beyond. This commitment demonstrates the responsibility that Jenoptik assumes as a social actor.”
