Sample Automated Enforcement Program
(intended for demonstration purpose only)
Getting closer to our Vision Zero goal means eliminating all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all.
Speeding and running red lights are common causes of serious crashes, and automated enforcement technology has proven itself effective, efficient, and fair. Our city has advanced photo enforcement technology to positively impact driver behavior and enhance the safety on our roads. These include speed and red light cameras as well as many other enforcement applications. This technology also helps roadway operators to manage traffic flow, emissions, congestion and tolls.
By providing innovative solutions to make mobility safer and easier, we significantly lower incidences of speeding and red light running. The automated enforcement technology also acts as a deterrent as most drivers do not receive more than one or two of these violations – changing driver behavior. By getting closer to Vision Zero we can all contribute to making future mobility smarter, safer, greener and more efficient.
Program Goals
The Automated Enforcement Program was launched on XYZ. The program is administered by the Police Department's Automated Enforcement Division (AED).
The goal of the program is to increase traffic safety on roadways in the City/County/State using automated enforcement devices that enforce speed limits and red light signals at certain intersections.
How it works
Red Light Enforcement
Red light citations are issued to vehicles that enter an intersection against a red signal.

These citations are verified by a police officer and a citation notice, to include the vehicle's speed and photographs, is mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. The citation notice explains how to pay a violation or how to request a hearing in court. Fines are $XYZ and are civil infractions that do not assess points on a driver's record.
