Jenoptik again among the best communicators on the German capital market
First place in the SDax index for Jenoptik at “Investors' Darling” and third place in the overall ranking of the competition in which the financial communication of all 160 German Dax companies is evaluated.
Jenoptik, a leading international company in the photonics industry, took first place in the renowned capital market competition “Investors' Darling” 2019 in the SDax index and was thus honored as the best capital market communicator among all SDax companies in Germany. The rankings in various categories depend on the quality of the companies’ written and personal capital market communications. The competition is organized by “Manager Magazin”, a German monthly business magazine, and HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management.
With this year’s result, Jenoptik has achieved something which no company from this index had ever achieved before: Jenoptik is also in 3rd place in the overall ranking of all 160 Dax members. Jenoptik thus outperforms most Dax and MDax companies in this competition for German financial communications. In the previous year, Jenoptik had reached 33rd place in the overall ranking of all companies. In addition, the photonics specialist also took first place in the TecDax in 2019, which has not been awarded a separate prize since this year because Deutsche Börse has listed members of the other indices Dax, MDax and SDax there since 2018.
According to the jury, the decisive factors for the good evaluation of Jenoptik included the presentation of the strategy and its implementation as well as the specific and detailed reporting of the earnings, financial and risk positions. In addition, there was good feedback from equity analysts and fund managers as well as an evaluation of the share price performance compared with the industry as a whole.
“We attach great importance to understandable and trust-building communication with our stakeholders. The constant exchange with the financial community is very important to us and a crucial part of our daily work. We are pleased that this has also been rewarded,” said Dr. Stefan Traeger, President & CEO of JENOPTIK AG, who is also responsible for Investor Relations & Sustainability.
“The competition is a good orientation and provides us an excellent benchmark for our financial reporting. We see in this award primarily an acknowledgement of our efforts to inform the capital market promptly, transparently and consistently,” added CFO Hans-Dieter Schumacher.
Since 2014, the competition organized by Manager Magazin and HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management has been putting the quality of financial communication of German stock corporations to the test every year. Jenoptik has already received the “Investors' Darling” award for financial market communication for the second time.
The basis for the award and the ranking is an extensive analysis that the team around economics professor Henning Zülch of HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management has been preparing for Manager Magazin since 2014. The financial reporting, Investor Relations work and presentation including digital communication as well as the capital market presence on the Internet are evaluated according to an extensive catalogue of criteria. For the first time, communication on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was also rated.
